Welcome Neil

My name is Neil George Garrett. I attended Bath Technical School from 1952 until 1956 when I left to take an Apprenticeship as a Carpenter & Joiner. At 69 years old would like to make contact with any old schoolmates.

Hi Neil and welcome, I hope you enjoy the site and read some of the old posts, you can look at old photos and notes by clicking on skydrive on the left hand menu, by the way feel free to add any old photos that you may have to any of the folders there, you also have your own online storage space again called skydrive but this is accessed by hovering over the Windows Live logo in the top left hand corner of the screen with your curser, in there you can create and store up to 25 gigs of files, these can be private or public or both depending on how you set your preferences, anyway enjoy the site and I hope you contact someone you knew at the Tech.

Please add a headshot to your profile, this is easy to do and can be a recent one or you can download the school photo from your year, make sure you remember where you save it on your hard-drive then click on the blank headshot in your profile and when prompted upload to windows live where you can resize it to just your headshot, this could also be a recent photo on your PC, any problems please ask and any of us will help.

Once again welcome to the site from another carpenter and joiner

Tony

Hello Neil,
I`d like to add to Tonys` welcome, not as a joiner you understand, (in wood that is) but as another joiner of this band of ex-Bath Tech boys, (well, not really boys either anymore), I guess I`m trying to say is we are not what we used to be, but we are trying to be what we should have been.

If that has got you confused, then I have succeeded in my endeavour ... some food for thought ... I hope you do indeed bump into old pals, you will no doubt bump into lots of old memories as you scan the information stored here.

Once again a very warm welcome to you, the 54th member of the many who originally attended the Old School that have found this Web site. Best regards.

Hi Neil,

Welcome to the club !! I hope you find things of interest here, I'm sure you will. We go from the sublime to the ridiculous at times so I doubt you'll get bored.

Any stories or memories are always welcome too. Enjoy the place.

Well congratulations Neil I think you are probably our oldest member to date, I may be wrong as there are a few guys on here that are a bit shy regarding what details they leave on their profiles if thats the case then lets have it, did you leave Bath Tech before Neil in 1956 ??

Welcome aboard Neil. This time I am ahead of you not behind. I attended the Tech from 1956 onwards. I am in contact with David Atchison who may be from your cohort. He stayed on in the 6th & bossed me around as a fresher! These chaps make one feel very welcome, but they do want to talk about high octane engines, wild entertainment and a drop of 'the other'!  Cheers, Graham

Hi Neil.
Sorry I'm a bit late but just arrived back, checked the site and was conbfronted by Anth's welcome to your good self.
I'd like also to echo their sentiments in extending a very warm welcome. It's not quite as insane as Stu makes out. Oh, I don't know though, perhaps it is!
From what I can make out you were probably three years above me at school, although your name does not ring any bells with me. Perhaps you were one of Bob Hale's cohorts?
Anyhow, enjoy the site and we look forward to your contributions in the future.
Best regards.
Sticky.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the many welcomes.  I'm already finding interesting things and hope to contribute soon.  Memories are coming back.  I expect many of my peers have already passed to the Old School in the Sky but now living in London I dont see the "dispatches" in the Chronicle.

Hello Neil & Sticky,

Neil, I don`t take the "Chron" any more ..it`s a weekly paper now .. but it is available online as this link will take you to it   http://www.thisisbath.co.uk/news hope that will allow you to keep up with the gossip in your old home town.

John .. I had the same problem with duplicated postings on Live with my old Web Browser. Try downloading "Mozilla Firefox", its free .. painless .. and faster than "Internet Exploroer.

You can have both browsers on your PC at once, I know you have Windows 2000 like me, so it will work fine. It will ask you copy "favourites" and home page from Internet Exploroer list when it installs .. do this, and they will be called "bookmarks" in Firefox. Other than that, it will work much the same as Inernet Explorer did.

Hope that helps, regards to all.

Hi Bill and all.
Thanks for the tip Bill, but I think I may hold off for a day or two as I'm seriously considering changing my machine again and if I do it will be within the next couple of weeks. Seems little point in downloading anything in view of this.
It all came to a head tonight when 'er indoors was trying to type up the minutes of a sea cadet meeting. I could not work out why ot took her about five hours to type two pages, then I had a go!!! The keyboard seems to have a mind of its own, for example if you try to delete a letter it does so but a letter of its chosing which could be just about anywhere in the document. She has found out that if you place the cursor in front of the letter you wish to delete and then operate the space bar, now right arrow to put the cursor back in front of the letter, then depress the delete button the correct letter is deleted. Trouble is then you have a space where it's not wanted so you have to shuffle everything around until you lose the space.............Need I say more?
I said to hell with this, Ill get a new lappie and you can have my old one (this one). Having said it I seem to be rather committed, don't I? Ah well.......
By the way Bill I like the comments from Graham and yourself re. South African and Oz falling down liquid.
Looking forward to more contributions from Neil, our new contributor.
Have fun all.
Sticky.
