Hi Mervyn and welcome, I hope you enjoy the site and read some of the old posts, you can look at old photos and notes by clicking on skydrive on the left hand menu, by the way feel free to add any old photos that you may have to any of the folders there, you also have your own online storage space again called skydrive but this is accessed from the top menu bar under the dropdown menu "MORE" in there you can create and store up to 25 gigs of files, these can be private or public or both depending on how you set your preferences, anyway enjoy the site and I hope you contact someone you knew at the Tech.

Please add a headshot and a surname to your profile, this is easy to do and can be a recent one or you can download the school photo from your year, make sure you remember where you save it on your hard-drive then click on the blank headshot in your profile and when prompted upload to windows live where you can resize it to just your headshot, this could also be a recent photo on your PC, any problems please ask and any of us will help

Hi Mervyn, welcome my friend to the show that never ends, (identify that one Eccles), fell free to regale us with reminiscences of schoolgirls wobbly bits, steam locomotives, 1960's rock 'n roll, and anything that takes your fancy, literally anything, solar power, tractors, parrots and politics, have been recent themes we have a small number of regular contributors who are quite prepared to pervert any subject to their own peculiar tendencies, so welcome and please join in.

Sorry for that Mervyn, did,nt mean to hijack your welcome post, it would be nice to have a surname and a year that you attended the Tech though.

Hello Mervyn, Welcome from me too. How about a different tack then you guys? .. lateral thinking ...

The Neverending Story (German: Die unendliche Geschichte) is a German fantasy novel by Michael Ende, first published in 1979. The standard English translation, by Ralph Manheim, was first published in 1983. The novel was later adapted into several films.

The majority of the story takes place in the parallel world of Fantastica (Phantásien in the original German version; referred to as Fantasia in the films), a world being destroyed by the Nothing, which represents and constitutes people's lack of imagination in the real world. The first protagonist is a young warrior, who is asked by the sick Empress to set off and find the cure for their world. The other protagonist is a boy from the real world, a reader of the novel with the same title, for whom the story gradually becomes more and more realistic.

That was an extract form a Wikipedia article .. not my fair hand .. ha ha .. lovely sunny day here in the grand Duchy of Timsbury . a goodly day for the olf trausty shed to die .. aah.. .I trust you have all enjoyed the same sort of weather.  Regards to all..

Hi Mervyn,

A warm welcome to our jolly band. I can't add anything to what my learned elders have said, they are far more wordy and wordly wise than me. Have a look around there's some good stuff to look at and there are times when we are plain ruddy silly and that's where I get in !!!! I can't recall a Mervyn during my time between 1961 and 1966 so can you tell us a surname and a vintage/

Enjoy your stay !!

I preferred the book to the film Bill, prefer my own imagination to someone elses, didn't read it in the German though.

Made you work for that one then Tony, I'll have to dig a little deeper to flummox you and try to beat Google.

Hi Mervyn.
I can only echo what the others have already said and bid you a very warm welcome.
As they have said the subject matter seems to vary considerably, probably because the thread appears to wander from the deeply phylosophical to the just plain silly. Please have a go, you'll soon get the hang of it!
In the mean time enjoy the site.
Best regards.
Sticky.
