Hi Stu

Welcome back! You have been missed. Do you have tales to tell of visits to far-off lands?

Cheers

Steve, if you consider Holsworthy far off parts I have indeed been far away, mind you some days it feels like I'm in an entirely different universe, entering mid Devon is a bit like taking a trip in the tardis. Sadly no hols until later this year then it's three weeks backpacking across northern India, public buses and trains, should be an adventure ! Although did have a couple of days in London staying with friends for a gig, private event for a friend who was the manager of the Moody Blues record shop, they closed the shop and dumped him after twenty years, accountants recommendation ! Needless to say they weren't guests of honour. Musical entertainment was provided by my friend Mike's band, Heat Treatment, he's a fan of Graham Parker, they play a lively brand of rock and roll, classics interspersed with their own material. The evening started off with them playing a couple of numbers with another friends son, just 10 years old, been playing the piano for 6 months and he's playing Johnny B Goode like a veteran, then takes the lead for a blinding Let it Be, remember the name Jake Campbell, the kid was genuinely good.
Another of the acts was a guy name of Phil Burdette, if you like Van the Man check out Mr Burdette I doubt you'll be disappointed, he's got his own web page there's a track on it called Valentino Mainline, equal to anything of Van's, another one of the musicians was a lady name of Jacqui Wicks, played Glastonbury last year, and managed to silence a bar full of drunks with a rendition of Neil Young's Harvest Moon just accompanying herself on a ukelele, it was truly one of the best musical nights I've ever had, people playing for friends and the pure pleasure of it.

Other than that I've been rather busy hence my disappearance for a while, have started my summer job, along with training a new guy in my full time job, and my boss has got me involved in a project making a short film to publicise what we do, I'm storyboarding, hoping to get a couple of days filming out of it, what with that and becoming a house husband while Shirl's training for the World Gig Championships in the Scillies next week. And I've been putting together a couple of little projects outlining my personal history, I haven't got Bill's talent with words so I'm doing mine with music, decade by decade, it will probably/eventually appear on my Facebook page, tune a day, with references where suitable, if anyone's interested join me on FB, young Lanham's already there trading insults, (good lad Rich, keep it up). Other than that I've been lazing about, Oh! forgot about the allotment, which is looking good and planting/propagating well under way, that's after the winter projects of building cold frames, tool boxes and fruit cages.
