Hi I'm Alan Hale, Left The Tec in - I think it was 1963 started there in 1960 having passed 13+. Would like to make contact with those who might remember me. My email address is alan91@live.co.uk. Best wishes Alan

Hi Alan, and welcome, I hope you enjoy the site and read some of the old posts, you can look at old photos and notes by clicking on skydrive on the left hand menu, by the way feel free to add any old photos that you may have to any of the folders there, you also have your own online storage space again called skydrive but this is accessed from the top menu bar under the dropdown menu "MORE" in there you can create and store up to 25 gigs of files, these can be private or public or both depending on how you set your preferences, anyway enjoy the site and I hope you contact someone you knew at the Tech.

Please add a headshot to your profile, this is easy to do and can be a recent one or you can download the school photo from your year, make sure you remember where you save it on your hard-drive then click on the blank headshot in your profile and when prompted upload to windows live where you can resize it to just your headshot, this could also be a recent photo on your PC, any problems please ask and any of us will help

Hi Alan, hope you join in with the general silliness that goes on here. There are a number of us that have found that whaever ouy year we have much in common, from general interests to a shared sense of humour, excluding Chris Wiltshires parrot that is, sorry Parroty.

Greetings Alan

this website is a very very naughty place and quite unfit for a pillar of the community such as yourself.

You can see how unpleasant things are when my poor parrot is villified and held up to ridicule.

I would leave whilst your reputation is intact. This is my final warning. For some of us it's already.....too late.

Yours, beyond redemption

Chris

Hello Alan,
I`d just like to echo the above sentiments .. but having studied them for a minute or two, I`m not sure if they are so much a welcome or an indication of what you are letting yourself in for. This site is not really intended for those of a nervous disposition, and nobody is really sure of the (temporary?) transformation that occurs to senior citizens when typing on these free pages from Mr. Microsoft. Maybe one day all will become clear to us, and then our marvellously technical foundation in life will really pay off.

Until then, we have no choice but to breed parrots, sail ships, play with trains, tractors and all things mechanical. The other option is to write, but nobody really does that anymore .. perhaps email .. that`s a thought .. I`m off to give it a try .. see you all soon ..

I must apologise if I seem to be have a dig at Chris's parrot, poking Polly, so to speak. I quite like parrots really, intelligent birds, and remarkably good company, except that they're quite a lot like women, i.e. talk all the time, repeat themselves constantly, and usually talk a load of b*^^*£$%. On the whole parrots would seem to be the better deal, after all one is never going to be in trouble for ignoring them, except and here's where the whole theory falls down, Polly Parrot's never going to cook my tea, and I don't like millet. All day having little better to do I've been racking my brains trying to remember the lyrics to the old Bonzo Dog Do Dah Band that referred to a parrot, all I can remember is "When Mr.--------'s parrot says Hello", this line is followed by a very bad impersonation of a parrot saying hello, and that's all I can remember, can anybody help?

Hi and Welcome to the site Alan.

You will by now have got the level of our ramblings and if you are ageing at the same speed as us and the memory and grey cells are receding, not to mention the hairline, then you'll soon be joining in with our ramblings.

Tell us what you're up to, what you've done, interests etc and we'll all get stuck into some more joviality !!!

Enjoy you stay,

Rich

What's all this about Lily the pink, Bill, is she related to Ken the Red in any way, if so how's he making money out of it?
Oooooh who said that???

Hi all.
Say hello to Weymouth for me Rich. Technically I lived there for a bit during the early sixties.
Well, my parents did,I only got home week ends 'cos I was working out of Yeovil at the time, so lived with an Aunt in Sherborne all the week and went home to Weymouth at week ends. It was OK but tended to be hellish in the summer time, difficult to get about on public transport for jolly ollies.
I remember well the winter of 62/3 I was going out with a girl from Littlemoor. We all spent a very social evening in the pub there boxing night. When we came out everyone was surprised at the amount of snow that had fallen and it was still snowing. I walked home to Preston dressed in a lightweight suit, a mac and casual shoes through drifts that were then up to my knees. No one managed to get out of the village by any means for the next ten days. During that time there was a great deal more snow.
Weymouth harbour froze over! On Osmington hill between Preston and Osmington Mills there were drifts fifteen feet deep, with cars trapped under it. Even the winter of 47 which I can just remember, was insignificant compared to 62. It was colder I think, but no one had nearly as much snow, at least you could get about in 47. At its worst in 62 if you went outside you just got stranded in snow that was waist deep and you could not move.
Weymouth brings back happy memories, NOT.
Sticky.
PS The girl from Littlemoor was OK though!

Hey Rich, it's all along the south coast except Bournemouth and Poole. The weather girls says it's because we have a micro weather system around here. Fair enough. She's got nice legs but that's still nothing to do with it. Does seem to be something different about our weather though. We had one fall last week which sat on the ground until now, slowly melting and the latest downfall gave us just a small flurry, nothing much. Damn cold though. We stay indoors cos it's too cold and Ken stays indoors cos it's too hot. He reads Peter Robinson and strangely enough so do I. Books, not Ulster politician. Try Stella Whitelaw's crime novels (Jordan Lacey PI) when you're looking for something distinctly light that you can polish off in a day. I pick up used copies cheap on Amazon. Cheapest was a hardback at twenty pence. I've been to her writing classes and been inspired  by them.
