Just to place myself on record, I'm not watching the telly, I refuse to watch the telly, I'm having nothing to do with it, and to cap it all I'm home alone her indoors having scuttled off to the Scillies to take part in some rowing event. One expects a phone call at any time to announce that she's been arrested for being drunk and disorderly, well I'm not bailing her out!

On a lighter note I've not been getting all the discussions recently, some haven't appeared at all until I go into the discussions menu, missed the Duck's Son & Pinker one entirely, any one else had a similar problem ?

Mercifully I had to work today and managed to find a Radio station that actually played music. I use the term loosely but at least there was no moron asking inane question to Joe Public all morning !! For those that are into it fine and I hope the media leave the couple alone and..... that Kate his very happy with her Willy. Best of luck to Shirl, Stu. Rich

Hi Stu and Rich.
First of all Stu, hope Shirl gets on well with her rowing, I'm sure your  fears about her intoxication are completely unfounded!!!!!!
I posted up the problem with the messages not appearing some time back, but if you were unaware it is unlikely you would have seen the posting, a bit futile really............
As politically incorrect as it may be, I'd like to mention the W word.
'Er indoors had it on the box, I have to admit to watching some of it. There was a method in my madness though. Wanted to see the horse drawn coaches, I particularly like the old rolling stock, fine example of the coach builder's craft. I also wanted to see the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight fly past, every time I hear the throaty roar of Rolls Royce Merlins it sends a shiver up my spine. Just can't resist the opportunity to hear them once more. Last year I was in the fortunate position of being able to get up close and personal with one at the RR factory at Filton, also the Olympus engine as used to power Concorde among many other applications both aeronautical and civil. Such superb examples of British engineering at its best.........
Just hope that the marriage has the longevity of the aforementioned engines, I wish them both well and hope they survive the 'Royalty' factor.
Have fun all.

I have been on Isles of Scilly during the Gig racing week and I can assure you that Stu's fears are entirely founded. Wish I was there now!!!!

Cheers

Hi all.
Not at all reassuring, Steve.
Still I expect Shirl will survive OK!!!!!!
I was surprised to learn recently that there is a gig racing team at Clevedon...........
Guess they fit wheels for when the tide is out!
Have fun.

I can report that she has returned home safely, there appears to be no APB out on her so the bail money should be safe. It seems like a good time was had by all, the only let down would seem to have been the weather.

Clevedon may have a gig club John but they didn't do the Scillies, nor Bath, who also have a gig club, but Bristol did. It is a big event, as Steve would tell you, 150 plus boats for both the mens and ladies competitions, and at 7 to a boat thats 2000+ competitors, it's a wonder the Scillies don't sink under the weight, although the pubs usually end up dry.
