We have had about an inch. Temp was down to -6 degrees C overnight. Had to go into Yate (lucky me!!) and the main roads were clear. Only the village lanes ungritted. One neighbour was on an exercise (Royal Marine) in Snowdonia overnight. They had -17 according to the news! Took these shots of my garden on Saturday afternoon. My nauticalia looks quite fetching in the snow!

I got as far as Carmarthen on Friday and gave up it was so bad. I was supposed to go to Haverfordwest but decided not to chance it. The boss said Carphone wanted it delivered so I suggested a helicoptor and drove back to Avonmouth. There was no gritting done west of LLanelli, would you believe that !! Keep yourselves warm lads !! Rich.

Hello guys,
Same snowfall in Timsbury, about an inch cleared off the solar panels this morning. Well, it`s more ice than snow .. under the dusty stuff is solid ice about 1/4 inch (6mm for the metric among you) thick.

I have some piccies of last years snow on my home page photos, if you are on my network they are viewable .. if you`re not  .. then why not?

Regards to all, Horlicks most nights now, and TV in bed at 9.00 p.m.  .. exciting stuff isn`t it? .. old that is...

Don't feel sorry for me Steve can't stand the stuff, nearest to us was up on Exmoor, seen from a distance just how I like it, either that or on a Christmas card.

Hi Lads.
We've been very lucky up here in the Cotswolds so far, only a slight sprinkling of snow but like the rest of you its been perishing cold -7 night time temperatures and creeping hardly above freezing during the days, even the sunny ones. Hope it doesn't turn out like last winter, see my photos in 'Our village in the snow'.
For you guys in sunnier climes this may be a bit nostalgic, but I can assure you all that you are in the best place........ Bl****y snow!!!!!!!!
Have fun all.
Sticky.

Reading the paper outside would be real 'brass-monkeys' here! Would happily give up the picturesque for the chance! Whatever happened to global warming?

The freeze continues (-7 C again last night) but only an inch of snow. We even had a TNT van delivery at 7.25 am this morning! (not of dynamite I might add, although funnily enough there was a rifle in the consignment plus some meat!!)

Hi Guys

Thanks for the snowy pics, especially of the places I recognise.  Have to admit it has been cold here today with a keen wind. There were reports of snow only an hours drive from us - scary!! Expecting a low of 2C tonight but looking at forecast normal service is resumed next week with daytime temps of 20C and night-time 15C. From a shivering ex-pat with glass of vino in hand I send my best wishes to the shivering in UK!!

Cheers

Was huddled up with a glass of mulled wine in hand when 'patter, patter' outside, it started to rain. Now it is like glass around the village. The salt was washed away. Bizarre weather. Rain on frozen ground! Business as usual?

Hi all.
Same here, Graham, bizarre aint it?
Went out to collect 'er indoors from her firm's 'Do' about ten last night, arrived at the venue OK in the Land Rover, got out and promptly fell ass over tip. Rain on the top of ice!!!!!!!
No serious harm done though, only to my dignity.
Thanks for the photos of Biddestone, very picturesque. Brings back many memories.
Thanks also for your sympathies, Steve.
Think I'll go off and find a suitable glass of plonk now.
Have fun guys.

I'm feeling quite left out, the only snow we've had was about a quarter of an inch on Thursday morning which had disappeared by 10.00am., hence no build up of ice, been damn cold though. 5 miles away to the north as the crow flies people were getting stuck in 4 foot drifts, but here nada, the only thing of excitement has been the big warship anchored out in the bay for the past two days, and the main topic of conversation the Torridge being closed yesterday, - jumper, sadly, other than that all's quite on the western front.

Sorry chaps! We hunkered down in the cold weather. Had supermarket deliver supplies, Laithwaites two cases of wine (hic!) and then eventually stayed in Bath with daughter to complete Christmas shopping. Then came cards, wrapping and a series of visitors so the computer took second fiddle. Golly only 11 days and it will all be over.Boxing Day! My favourite, the farthest from next Christmas! The frost was pretty when it was here. See some pics.

Hello you guys,
I`m not keen to get my hands cold on this keyboard ...HaHa

Looking at those piccies Graham, you`ve captured a bit of what it`s been like in England. (not forgetting Wales, Scotland & Ireland of course).
The warm (3 degrees) weather has returned, so I thought I`d venture out into the workroom and fire up the big P.C., it`s holding up at the moment, and I can see on my cameras that we have no snow or frost left anywhere now.

Keep an eye out for those students if you`re thinking of visiting London ...regards.

P.S.
Glad to to be able to help Steve.

P.P.S. Yeh .. where are we all? .... shopping? .. my excuse is just busy dealing with traumatic bank card fraud ..... the git(s) are in London at the moment, taxi fare .. I`ve been cloned .... £800.00 so far, and still climbing by the day. ...... aaaaaaaaaghhhhhhhhh!!!! .. hands up who took the photo.

Hi Francis, One advantage of a laptop (computer I mean!!) is to find a warm spot to type. As my others are in the attic, and warm air rises, that is usually okay too. Total thaw here too, but the rain stopped in the early hours and immediately froze again. I think we may cop it again this week. Daughter arrives shortly so off to the White Horse (all of half mile!) in case we get iced in. Feeling smug as I fulfilled 'er indoors' Christmas 'wants' list in one easy trip today. First time ever I won't have the Christmas Eve fast shuffle. Perhaps it was your card I was using? (bad joke!) Really rotten luck. I hope you have shut it down? We have invested in 'Credit Card Sentinel' for years. When the kids were living at home it even worked from Corfu when daughter had her card nicked at the airport on the way home. One call from her mobile and 'slam' the card was closed. They keep a record of all the numbers (not pins!!) and so far so good as the outlay was worth it. One never knows about skimming. My second PC was bought on-line from a store in London. No probs. A few weeks later there was a TV programme about how cards were cloned. Blow me the computer store was the one the journalist filmed with an Asian guy taking the details! I was lucky.

Hello Graham,
I have beenn using online banking for over five years now, and no probs unitl 11th December.

I have no credit cards, (choppoed them all up when my Bank got it wrong, and wanted £1.13p interest from me for their problem , not mine.)

I use a debit card online, I use a system called "Rapport" to prevent capture of my information while on the net.

My problem started when I bought some leisure batteries on Ebay. I registered my online debit card with a Bank. They made an unathorised wthdrawl.  Someone in the bank accesssed my information. That`s how I was caught.

Luckily, I check my accounts every day online. I stopped the card within minutes. The fraud team are still trying to catch the criminals, so they are crediting my account with any more new charges, before they let the transaction take place.

Regards.

Hi all, I too use Rapport and have had no trouble lately. I did have £800 taken by some swine somewhere in France but the nice people at Alliance and Leicester or Santander gave me it back, new cards and no problems since. I do check my account regularly all the same. Rich
