"Saturday night out .. well come on now, baby come along now"
The weekend starts here .. Friday night.
"Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away, I believe in Yesterday". All was good in the Williams household on thursday night ... `twas a moonlit night .. and the village slept well.

Friday dawned, the dunnits and the robin fought over the meal worms on the bird table ... the blackbird males jostled each other for prime position among the bread and suet .. Sunlight struck the face of the hill opposite (called the Sleight). Lunchtime fast approaching, we sat in the conservatory cosseted by the warm sunlight my wife and I.

The clock struck noon, the full Westminster quartet followed by the 12 dongs ... and then we saw it .. small at first, then looming larger with every passing second. The first was followed by a second .. " P..I...C...K , damn, it`s going too fast" I said ... the two smaller vehicles following behind closely in formation.

We turned to look at each other in surprise, our faces now right up against the kitchen windows .. it had finally arrived ... we said nothing at first; then I broached the subject with caution and said .........

"Neighbours .. every body needs good neighbours" .. "wonder what they`ll be like" .. said Carole.

Don`t miss the next episode will you? ...

Bill, Very exciting, waiting for the next instalment.  This morning I went for a run, the bushland or countryside around here in suburbia is still pretty wild.  I mean, I can take the road (double laned both ways) into Canberra a distance of 15km and on the side see 4 or 5 dead kangaroos killed overnight and on the side of the road.  The rangers mark them with a big red "X' and then leave them where they are for the crows to eat and to deter speeding drivers.  They only last two or three days and all are gone.  Hit a Roo and your car is a nice mess and very costly to repair.  Last week, I was at one of our running venues, sitting around dong nothing for best part of a day.  Went back to the same area the next day and there was a 4 metre plus Eastern Brown Snake (pretty deadly with a bit that can kill), but like all snakes, will stay away from humans unless you surprise them or are very unlucky. Anyway on this run this morning, about 500m from home I come up to this area where I have often seen snakes and a pair mating some three years back.  I threw a heap of rocks at that pair but they kept at it, Bbit like you Bill?  So I turned around and went home.  This morning for some unknown reason, I was pretty nervous coming up to the same area, but there was nothing to fear, no snakes around.  I was just thinking about the few Adders that I saw as a young lad in Weston/Bath and how petrified we were then, and now thinking of the horrors we have here.  Your neighbours will be great, their kids will pinch your fruit in Spring/Summer, egg your house in Winter and play

Knock Up Ginger' all year round.   Finish now before I bore your tits off. Cheers Ken

Hi all.
Like the story about the snakes, Ken, also the bit about boreing our watsits off.
I recall a little incident that tickled me at the time.
The lady that used to record the minutes of our committee meetings was of very slight build, to say Lowry like was a bit of an understatement, I'v seen more fat on a greasy chip!
After a meeting one night we were in the bar (all meetings are held in the pub) when JK one of our committee members drew our attention by saying 'Here's a good joke, you'll laugh your t........' looking at said lady continued 'Oh, I see you've heard it!'
She did not take offence, but laughed with the rest of us. We would not have offended her for all the tea in China, not only that her partner is a very big bloke!
Got to go now, lots to do.
Have fun.
Sticky.
