Reunion
|
|
Has anyone heard anymore about the proposed
reunion? Her indoors is getting restless, wants to get her spring
holiday organised, first it was Morocco, now it's Budapest, and to top
it all mention's been made of camel trekking in the Sinai desert
followed by a cruise down the Nile on a sailing barge, or some such,
thinks she's Cleopatra, who that makes me I can only wonder, answers
appreciated, preferably written on 10 pound notes. Now you understand
why I took the job as a Traffic Warden, someone's got to suffer, and
it's not going to be me!!!
Sad part about all this is that if I hadn't been any good at
geography I'd have been quite happy to go to Bognor or some such for me
hols, knotted hanky an' all!

Hi Stu
Been a busy boy today. Is it 'cos it's rainin.
I've heard nothing more about the reunion either, p'raps someone
more proficient than I should try to contact Steve Wakefield to see if
there has been any developments. I'm up for it as well and 'er in doors
says she is up for it also, but I've told her she has to leave her
broomstick at home!
I can understand your beloved getting fidgity, there's no
comparison between floating down the Nile Cleo style and a stuffy school
reunion. Guess which is the non starter. Answers on papyrus
to..............
Ah well, back to the custard, much more amusing.
Don't we lead exciting lives?
Best Regards.
Sticky.
PS Incidentally, have you read Mike's treatise on electronic school reports. PC gone mad or what?
Have Fun.

Hi All
I've contacted a mate who's on the Pub Pals site, the latest info
he has is that proposed dates are 13th. and 20th. Feb and 6th. 20th.
27th. March, if interested contact Steve Wakefield at roosters.xroads@virgin.net
just to let him know if you are interested and if any dates are more
favourable than others, the sooner he has this info the sooner things
can be finalised.
PS if this info is the same as Bill's already posted sorry, age thing again, plus the fact that I'm far too idle to look it up.
PS2 Yesterday had nothing to do with it raining John, the sun had passed the yardarm that's all.

Hi All, what a lovely day we've had even if it was a
bit chilly. Had an e-mail from Steve Wakefield last night regarding the
reunion, it looks like being on the 27th. March, that being the most
favourable date for band, hall etc.
If anyone living in the Bath locality can give a hand with the
preparations I'm sure Steve would be grateful for any assistance, you
can contact him on the e-mail address mentioned earlier in the
thread. Myself and other half will hopefully be attending and hope
to see as many of you as possible.
Saw your note about lunching with Mssrs Handscombe and Little,
Tony, when is Chan going to join up then? Whatever hope they were
both well.

A bit chilly, it has been bloody awful in Frome, raining
most of the day and only just drying up now that its dark, that uniform
of yours must be keeping you nice and warm Stu!!!

Shame Tony, hope our good weather's spreading your
way, though I doubt it, we had a saying when we lived in Frome, "It may
never rain in Southern California, that's 'cos it's always raining in
****** Frome".
The uniform's mostly black, so when the sun's shining it does
indeed attract the heat, there that's about all I remember of Physics,
although I do have to wear several layers of it when cold. I'm still
only a trainee at the moment, great innit 61 year old trainee, can't
perform properly until I've passed my City and Guilds the course starts
on 30th. Nov, that should be good for a laugh. Spent this morning around
Hartland and Clovelly, as you can imagine it was heaving there this
morning, had to get heavy with a couple of pensioners who hadn't
displayed their blue badge properly, I do love power, seriously it's all
a case of being polite and reasonable then giving them a ticket.

From Steve Wakefield posted on "Pub Pals" today.. just to keep you all updated on this `ere Reunion.
"Up date on do.
Hall is booked! For 27th of March. Band is booked. Bar is booked. We are organising a buffet - purely to soak up the beer.
There will be, as last time, a nominal entry charge, to cover the hall, the cost of the band, and food, and maintenance costs for this site. I'll try and figure how low I can pitch this I
have plundered Friends Reunited by sending out invites on both the Tech
and Culverhay sections there. If you have just joined this site from
there then a big WELCOME to you, and also to those from the other Tech
website, run by Bill. We are hoping to divide this site up into
relavent decades then perhaps years as more come aboard, giving it a
structure where you can look up old mates."

Hi Lads, My name is down and all I need now is a
couple of volunteers to hold me up when the drink takes it's toll !! Or
will there be detentions handed out? What's the dress code?
Rich.
PS. I'm not wearing a dress !!!!

Don't worry Rich I'll provide suitable support when you need it, NOT, I
imagine dress code will be anything you're comfortable in, so the frock
would be OK. It's Beckington mate, between Frome and Trowbridge so
sartorial elegance probably won't be an issue, for myself it'll be
relatively smart casual, (ripped jeans, old AC/DC tee shirt, biker
jacket and cutoff), should be acceptable I reckon what do you think.
Sorry, being flippant, we're going to be in Bristol on Saturday,
Mrs. wants to go Christmas shopping, anywhere I should avoid? I ask this
as a mate and promise to buy you a pint at the reunion.

Hi Stu.
Like your idea of smart casual. Do breeches and gaiters count?
Regarding your visit to Bristol, my advice would be, go to anywhere were there aint no shops. The SS Great Britain sounds good!
You could always stand in the middle of the Centre and say 'I can
see 'em but we can't get to 'em'........ If you are brave enough.
Have fun.

Breeches and gaiters absolutely fine as far as I'm concerned John, no 12 bore though, it is a social occasion after all.
As for the no shops bit I don't think I've got any chance there,
Shirl's got the tenacity of a Jack Russell when she gets going on the
shops, the best I can do is to sigh on an ever increasing frequency and
look miserable, (which won't be difficult), I was only trying to amass a
few brownie points when I suggested it, I didn't expect the idea to be
taken up, it hasn't before, oh well too late now, and it's forecast to
rain as well.

Hi Stu, If I were you I'd park down by the Nova
Scotia and put your wife on the ferry into town and then she can enjoy
the shopping and you can enjoy some food and drink and a little local
waffling. Avoid shops in Bristol on Saturdays, that's my tip !!!

Rich I'd worry every minute I was there about how
much she was spending, and if I was going to have to bail her out after
she'd assaulted some poor shop assistant, now there's a thought, perhaps
I'll just drop her off and go home, save me hanging about won't it and I
can pick her up from the station after the old bill let her out, she
can get a train home.

Hi Stu.
Sounds like you are getting some good advice here, problem is we all know it aint gonna work!
I know what you mean about the tenacity of a Jack Russel, mine's just the same.
Surprising the things we all do for 'Brownie points' isnt it?
I am going down to Yeovil tomorrow afternoon tho collect her sister, she is coming up to stay with us for a week.
Shaln't be able to move in our house for broomsticks again!
To make matters worse she brings her dog which dislikes cats and we have four cats.
Oh happy days.........
Best of luck with the shopping.
Regards to all.
