Hi

I am sure somebody else has noticed but there appears to be a problem with the site. New threads or messages do not appear in "Whats new". Can the technical wizards solve it?

Cheers

Steve

Hello Steve,
Wizardry beyond our control I`m afraid .. Mr. Misrosofts minions did fix the "updates" clitch on the school site for a while, but it seems to be back again .. we shall have to "duck and dive" for morsels or new information now.

I reckon it`s more fun this way .. but I think your own personal "updates" on your profile should still be letting  you know about anyone on your network posting new items or comments .. we`ll all have to invite each other onto our personal networks as an alternative to using the site update .. we live in hope ..there may be a fix soon ..

Easiest way I've found to keep up to date is to go directly to the discussions board,  there you can see the time of the latest posts on each current topic, not wonderful but at least we can keep up to date, I was beginning to wonder where everyone had gone !!

Hi all.
Yeh, having the same problem, Stu, thought I was the only one left. Was just about to sweep up and turn out the lights!
Now we all know the wrinkles its not too much of a problem for those of us that 'talk' regularly, but for anyone just dropping in it could look a bit bare assed! Still, no doubt Mr Gates is on the case (personally). Huh!!!! Too busy counting his money I suspect.
Regards to all.
Sticky.

Hi all, I will send Microsoft an email next week and ask them to look at the problem again as they managed to fix it before, but it is a bit of a long winded affair where they need to go into my account and log on as a member to view the problem, this results in me losing my password and having to reset it again and I don,t want to lose it untill the middle of next week so hang on for a bit and all will be well again at the Bath Tech web site.

Looks like it may have worked Tony, at least till the next time. I often wonder why these faults occur, is it that Microsoft decide to "improve" the system, the same things been happening with Facebook recently. Personally I prefer to abide by the old maxim "if it ain't broke don't fix it", but they do like to fiddle. We've got the same problem at work, the system continually stalls, freezes or crashes, I'm convinced it's to do with the fact that a lot of government and council networks are still using IE 6, and a few weeks back it had a lot of problems with viruses and the like. I've got one at the moment, a virus that is, fortunately is only a head cold, (man flu), the simple remedy being a tap on the nasal system.

Ah well got to go and look for another box of tissues,  Stu

Hi guys, just received the following from Microsoft

Hello Tony,

Thank you for writing to us at Windows Live SkyDrive. My name is Nadia. I understand that the What's New page on your Windows Live Group, "bathtecschool", is not updating. I realize the importance of addressing this concern.

Tony, to diagnose the problem, we will need to have access to your account so that we can gather sufficient information. We will then escalate your issue to our product specialists for further investigation.

Having access to your account will let us reproduce the error that you encountered. After we diagnose the problem, we will reset your password, and then send you an e-mail message that explains what we discovered.

 How this affects you:

If you use a domain that is provided by Microsoft, such as @hotmail and @msn, please be aware of the following:

While we are trying to fix the problem, you cannot use any services that require your e-mail address to sign in. Before we sign in to your account, make sure that you have your secret question and answer ready so that you can reset your password and access your account again. You should also have an alternative e-mail address available so that we can contact you if we experience any problems when we try to access your account.

If you use an account from a domain that is not a Microsoft domain, you will not be able access any Windows Live or MSN services that use this account. However, you will still be able to access any other services that use this account that are not associated with MSN or with Windows Live. We will send the password reset e-mail and information to this address unless you provide us with an "alternate" address in your Windows Live ID profile.

For example, this issue occurs if you use an account with one of the following domains: @yahoo, @gmail, and so on.

To give us your permission to access your Windows Live ID, reply to the e-mail message from the support agent and include the following text in your message:

"I grant you my permission to access my Windows Live ID."

Do not give us your current password.

Note: You can reset your password at any time by clicking Forgot your password? on the Windows Live ID sign-in page.

Once you give us your consent, please visit the link below.  It will help you go about updating your alternate e-mail address for your account.  It will also assist you in setting up your account's secret question and answer.

After we diagnose the problem, we will use your alternative e-mail address to notify you of our findings and to send you a password reset message.

Follow the steps that appear in the e-mail that you received to your alternate e-mail address to reset your password.

We appreciate your continued support as we strive to provide you with the highest quality service available.  We look forward to hearing from you soon.

 Sincerely,          Nadia

Hi Guys.
Well done Anth, for starting the ball rolling regarding the fault on the site. Brave man indeed, I wouldn't have known where to start!
I have to admire Bill as well with this spool to spool tape stuff, all very professional and technical, more strength to your arm Bill.
Sorry if I've been quiet lately, but was off all last week with proper 'flu, felt terrible and not inclined to do anything very much, feeling much better now though and been to work today.
Got to go now, tea's ready.
Be on again soon.
John.
