Hi Guys

Thought I might stir a few memories if I told you that today I purchased tickets to see Eric Burdon (and the Animals) and Chris Farlowe ("Out of Time") at our local music festival.

A few pints of cider and I shall feel 17 again!

Have fun

Cheers

Should be a good gig Steve, you'll have to write a definitive review of the evening. I certainly have good memories of seeing The Animals at the Pavilion, it was one of those gigs that has stuck in my mind. We're off the see the Fleet Foxes at the Eden Sessions next week, promises to be a good evening also, as well as being a great place to visit, and an excellent concert venue. If I'm lucky I'll also get to sample a few pints of cider as well, that's if I can coerce Shirl into driving home. Keep on Rockin' Stu

Morning Stu Thought that comment would stir you into action! I also remember Eric and the Animals down the Pav and it is a gig that stays in the memory. Haven't seen them since, hope I am not disappointed. Have always been a fan of Eric Burdon and his raw committed approach to the blues and rock. Will let you know. Cheers Steve

Standard dress of light grey suits, lemon yellow shirts and black tie, although I do remember that Eric's shirt was so sodden with sweat by the end of the gig it was several shades darker than anyone elses. Definately one of the best R'nB bands ever.

Never saw them 'live'. Was at college so 'House of the Rising Sun' conjures up value for money on the juke box at The Iron Bridge. 4.?? minutes per track? 3 plays for 6d. Smoking Benson & Hedges and sometimes outplaying the locals at darts with a few pints of 'Best' to lubricate the parts. Could have a really good night on a £1 and in those days finished course with no debt at all. In hall the same track was played on repeat endlessly from a 45 single. One Geordie mate turned up recently. He never went back home and taught in London for his whole career.

Hi Stu, re: the Animal's gig at the Pav, I am sure I can remember the promoter (? Brian K Jones)walking on the stage midway through to announce that he had received a telegram from N.M.E. to say that "House of the Rising Sun" was No. 1 in the charts. Ring any bells? Cheers Steve

I do remember something of that nature Steve, if I remember correctly Monday was the day when the trade recieved the weekend sales figures thus setting the No.1 for the week.

Saturday 02.07. feeling shattered, late night last night, finally got to bed at 01.45 after a gig at the Eden Project in Cornwall, went to see the Fleet Foxes, probably only of interest to Steve, but one of the best live bands I/we've seen in years, Steve if you get the opportunity you won't be disappointed. Then having to get up at 06.00 for work, finally finishing at 17.00, I was glad of a pint I can tell you. Other than that it's business as usual, work - sleep -work, still it'll be worth it eventually.
