Gary Moore RIP

Hi Stu and all music fans

Just  thought I would post the passing away of the great blue's guitarist Gary Moore. Gary died on holiday in Spain today (Sunday).

I was lucky enough to see him play live twice and he was truly one off the best guitar players ever. Surely would have achieved greater fame had he not been such a quiet and non-assuming fellow.

Not an 'old boy' but a hugely talented musician.

God bless

Steve

We were out for the evening with a friend of ours in Exeter when it came up on the news in the bar we were in Steve, saw Gary live several times, always brilliant, a sad loss to the world of music.

The very sad loss of a truly gifted guitarist, both as a solo artist and as band member of Thin Lizzy and Skid Row. I was fortunate enough to support Skid Row at the Granary, Bristol when they first came over to the UK. He was only 17 and frightened the life out of us as he was that good even then !! The band stayed over at a couple of flats that we had in Clifton and a nicer bunch you couldn't find. RIP Gary. Rich.

Hi Guys.
What can I say, you have already said it all. Many of you were much closer to Gary than I could have ever hoped to have been and I can appreciate your sentiments. As for me I just enjoyed the music, Thin Lizzy particularly. So much pleasure brought to so many people, RIP Gary.

Out of my depth here. He sounds to have been a talented chap. Always sad when such an individual goes, particularly if you have a shared history. I have just about heard of Eric Clapton (and was wound up by my 38 year old son when I found ACDC on the car radio recently and asked if they were new!) Lost my last remaining boss over Christmas (70 years old). That is 4 headmasters and two of my own ex-secretaries gone in the last few years. Tempus fugit!

"I saw the dusk that dimmed the day,
The darkness, came from far away,
The music, both faint, but very shrill,
Came from the tree, upon the hill,
From leaf to branch, from bough to ground,
The music, lies beneath, no sound,
No Moore to pluck, nor heaving breast,
Lies motionless, at peace, at rest."

Hi all.
Just had chance to catch up with the latest. Love the verse Bill, written from the heart and so fitting.
You really must try to keep up, Graham. The music scene has so much to give, I understand the brilliance of Clapton but there are many more like him to be admired and enjoyed although I must admit that some of the current so called bands leave me cold. Gerry Raferty recently passed on also, another very much under rated artist, best known for 'Baker Street' of course but there were other performances that were equally as good.
On me soap box again.
Have to go now before I bore everyone to death.
Have fun.
Sticky.
