Frying tonight ...ooops!
Hello news hungry members of Ye Olde Bathe Techy Syte..
Much ado about nothing?..not really .. Herbie (Ex pupil Malcolm Buhr) is proceeding with an insurance claim after a fire started in one of the deep fat fryers in his Moorland Road, Oldfield Park, Bath establishment. Local news repert the bad news here ..use the link to the story.

I wish Herbie a speedy solution to this unfortuanate occurence (should he get chance to read this thread).

Not really a matter of 'frying tonight' ... but almost. This is a reconstruction of an incident that actually happened on an airfield in the USA. At the end of it I can almost hear the female aerodrome controller shouting, "Oh Gawd, I've wet my panties!"

I thought it might interest any of you who plan to fly away on holiday this year.

Amazing level of control by the ATC's there David, hardly any vocal emotion at all, I sat and watched it going Oh! Oh!

PS Hope Herbie's getting his business sorted out and up and running again soon.

It's not in what you hear, Stuart. It's what you see up in the tower: sweaty brow, shaking hands, tightly crossed legs ... been there, done it.

Hi Guys.
Cracking clips, particularly the ATC one! Sometime when I have a little more time I will relate an amusing experience I had flying from Birmingham to Cork. It wasn't dangerous (As far as I know) just funny, if there is such a thing as fate it certainly took a hand that day!
Thanks, Bill for sorting Ken's photos, love the parrots! Speaking of which we have not heard much from Chris lately, it would be nice to get an update on Parrotty.
Oh, by the way Ken, loved the big old oil engine, are there any details in the text? Maker, year and Horse power, I'd guess about fifteen, but difficult to tell from the photo.
Keep it up lads.

Hello John, et al
I originaly posted the oil engine photo full size, and also sharpened up the text. If you "double click" on the photo it will start to appear full size for a moment; when, (and if) it returns to fill the avaiable screen, wait a few seconds, hover your mouse in the bottom right corner of the picture: .. a yellow/red box should appear .. click on this and the picture will appear full size, you can then shift the picture about and clearly read the text, and see greater detail .. hope that helps .. thanks to Stu for that tip...

P.S. don`t close the picture, but use your "back" button on your web browser to return to the small picture, if you don`t do this you`ll end up out of the school site... cheers.

Hi all.
Yes Bill it works just as you said, many thanks to you and Stu. Cracking old job!
As the original came from Ken I guess he's the man to answer my next question. You see Ken, I'd like to publish the photo in our next club newsletter, circulation 100, but I'm never quite sure about copyright. I guess that being as it was in a newspaper it is public domain anyway, but I should credit yourself as source and credit the paper also. First of all do you mind if I use it, and secondly which newspaper printed the original copy?
Not much more now, been off work today, think its piggy flue or something........
Feel bloooooooooooody awfuuuuuuuuuul
Keep smiling guys.

Hi Ken and all
Yes, very interested. Our club is the Stroud Vintage Transport and Engine club. Between us, with a lot of outside help we organise The Gloucestershire Steam and Vintage Extravaganza, the first week end in August, anually. Bill, Anth Stu and Shirl dropped over to see us last year, see photos. For further information, go to www.steamextravaganza.com.
Cheers for trying to contact restorers of the engine, but really don't go to too much trouble, though any result would be very much appreciated. It really would make a nice article for the newsletter, and prove that there are nut cases all over the world!
Have fun with all that sun, it's turning cold again here, I expect it'll be snow next, it has been threatening today.....
Ah well!
Have fun.
