A grey morning, but the birds are tweeting & the
buds bursting so Happy Easter. Off to Bristol later to meet up with one
of the kids at the Rummer. Have not been inside this one since it was a
Bernie Inn (I think?) Cannot believe that a week back we were
sweltering in 20 degree plus temperatures! Even better was the time
before in Canada/USA. Near Montreal it snowed on 9th February but they
had had very little earlier. By 11th it was shirt sleeves and after the
650 mile drive south to Williamsburg it was high summer. Daffodils were
over & blossom well out, Fascinating visit to Colonial Williamsburg.
Few tourists and bright weather, Good plan to ban cars. Each building
has a costumed porter so one can imagine that there has been a time
shift. Got into the back rooms to see the reserve arms as a bonus. With
my buddy we did the return 651 miles to Kingston Canada in one day.
Hardly a stretch of single carriageway the whole distance. Plenty of
police cruisers though. No trouble with immigration on the return as I
went via Schipol & Bristol. 5 minutes with only 20 bags on the
little business hopper's carousel. Not like Heathrow & Gatwick!
